'Kovai Green League' is a new project initiated by Brookefields in association with Bosch, MC3 and Rotary Club of Coimbatore to pay tribute to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
The objective of the project is to increase the green cover of the city by involving the Schools, Corporates and all citizens of Coimbatore.Dr. Vijaya Karthikeyan, Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner flagged off the league at Brooke fields at 11:00 am.
While addressing the gathering, he emphasised that students should develop interest in setting up terrace gardens and organic compost procedures. He also planted a tree sapling at the event.
Sam, Manager- Health, Safety & Environment from Bosch, stated that their organisation has been meticulously involved in various Corporate social Responsibility related projects and that they graciously accepted to associate with Brookefields in the 'Kovai Green League' project.
Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Coimbatore Public School Saravanampatti, Corporation Higher Secondary School, RS Puram, Corporation Girls School, Ranganathapuram and R.K Sreerangammal Kalvi Nilayam Higher Secondary School will be partnering with the 'Kovai Green League' project.
The schools will be accoladed with green campus award and best terrace garden award. The last date for submission of nominations is 7th August 2016. The league will focus on creating awareness and to motivate every individual to take up responsibility for a greener environment.
