SIET College students protest against management


The students of Sri Shakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology (SIET) L&T bypass boycotted their classes and raised their protest against the Management with some shocking allegations.



The students reportedly alleged that the Management has been threatening the students with Gundas. Further stated that the two-wheelers parked by the students within the premise of the college is often left punctured. 



More than 1000 students participated in the protest and hence police force has been deployed at the college been to avoid undue incidents. 

A final year student at the protest reported the following allegations against the Management:

The 1st and 2nd year students are purposefully banned to use their two-wheelers and are being forced by the management to use the college buses. They collect a fee of Rs. 15,000/- towards college bus charges, which is exorbitant, he stated. The final year students though are allowed to use their own transportation facilities are levied a fee of Rs.100/- bi-monthly towards parking charges. The vehicles of students who opt to park their vehicles outside the premise are often left punctured.

Students are imposed with a fine of Rs. 50/- for late arrival to classes. He evoked on a recent incident, where the hostel student was put to sleep outside his room for non-payment of fees. 

The institution is very keen on collecting money from the students through fines, bus charges, parking tickets and more, he stated.

The students insisted the management to address their grievances on priority, if not they would aggravate their protests.
