Vijay Rupani promises graft-free, sensitive Government

Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said on Friday that his first priority is to end corruption in government at all levels and provide people transparent governance. He was speaking at the function organised to felicitate newly appointed state BJP president, Jitu Vaghani.

"We will implement PM's promise of 'Khato nathi and khava deto nathi' (I will not take bribe nor allow others to take bribe)," said the Gujarat chief minister.

He further said that his other priorities were to provide decisive governance; make the administration sensitive to the problems of dalits, tribals, backward classes, youth and women; and provide a progressive government.

Interestingly, Rupani's promise was met with skeptical looks from leaders seated on the dais as well as party workers gathered for the function. Rupani accused the Congress of promoting caste conflict by trying to mislead dalits and other communities. He alleged that the Congress, Maywati-led BSP and other parties are trying to mislead the dalit community and give Gujarat a bad name.

"The state government took action against those responsible for the Una atrocity immediately after the incident," Rupani claimed.

He also alleged that the Congress had been claiming falsely that crimes against dalits had risen by 300%. "The truth is that crimes against dalits have increased only by 10%," Rupani said.

The chief minister further said that he has got very little time to get ready for the 2017 elections. "In 2001, the PM had said that he had to play a one-day match but for me it's 20-20 match. However, we will win it," the chief minister said.
