PWD demolishes temporary bridge at Vellalore

The over bridge work at Nanjundapuram to Podanur is currently under progression. Due to the ongoing work, the commuters travelling to Vellalore have been diverted through the Eachanari road. After the persistent complaints by the residents and motorists, a temporary bridge was constructed across the Noyyal to ease travel to Vellalore.

Recently, a petition was filed in the High Court by Kathirmadhiyon of 'Consumer Cause' for removing the temporary bridge as it affects the water inflow of Noyyal river. The High Court issued an order to the PWD department to demolish the temporary bridge with immediate effect. But the authorities had not initiated any steps to demolish the temporary bridge, hence another petition was filed against the PWD authorities by Kathirmadhiyon for not abiding to the Court's order. After successive complaints, today the PWD authorities with a poclain approached the spot and commenced the demolishing work. This act irked the residents who got onto to a scuffle with the authorities and protested against the demolition.

The officials pacified the residents by assuring them of alternate routes, shortly. The sudden protest and the commotion at Vellalore halted the traffic for a brief time.
