Disaster Management initiative flagged off at the City


'Coimbatore Rapid Response Team' an initiative by the Park Group of Institution along with the Coimbatore Corporation was flagged today by the Corporation Commissioner Dr.Vijay Karthikeyan at the Residency Hotel.



Anusha Ravi , CEO of Park Group of Institution and the organizer of the CRR Team expressed her gratitude to the Corporation Commissioner for embracing the ideas of the people of the city and encouraging them to contribute towards the upliftment of the city. 



She stated that 'Disaster Management' plays a crucial role in a country's policy and it cannot be undermined. The unpredictable nature of the disasters drives us to implement state-of-art technology and systems towards disaster management. She affirmed that the Coimbatore Rapid Response Team should be a role model in the disaster management sector with a capacity to handle all forms of disasters. The CRR team will educate and create awareness amongst the public on disaster management, she stated.

Dr.Vijayakarthikeyan in his address appreciated the initiative by the Park Group of Institution. He insisted that the people should be well-prepared and aware to overcome disasters of any form at anytime. He emphasised that disaster management is a collective act and it could be achieved through the joint efforts of the people and the Government. 



V.R.Hari Balaji, National Consultant of Disaster Risk Reduction, Mentor for the Coimbatore Rapid Response team stated that the CRR team should strengthen their technical support structures and a proper flow chart system should be earnestly followed by the CRR team to assist the people during emergency and unforeseen situations. He briefed on the pre disaster, inter disaster and post disaster protocols to be followed by the team. He handed over the training proposal of CRR team to the Corporation Commissioner. 

A video clipping demonstrating a mock drill that was performed in Chennai and Mumbai was aired to the viewers. 



City-based NGOs, Social Welfare Organisations, Students from Park college and Lieutenant Easan and his team were present at the launch.
