J&K Police nabbed 381 rioters in 44 days

Srinagar: The Jammu & Kashmir Police have registered 537 cases against rioters and "anti-national" elements over the past 45 days and arrested 381 miscreants, an official spokesman said on Tuesday.

"The J&K Police have remained at the forefront while dealing with the law and order situation all over the state," the spokesman said, adding that all police stations and police posts in the state are fully functional and working round-the-clock with the aid of other security agencies in bringing the situation back to normal.

"The J&K Police have risen to the occasion and faced challenges with tremendous restraint despite grave provocations in the form of mobs attacking police establishments, vehicles, and personnel," the spokesman said. The spokesman said that owing to the prevailing law and order problems, there is a very high concentration of security forces deployed in Tral region, and there are no inputs regarding the running of any terrorist training camps there.

In the past month-and-a-half of violence, over 5,000 security men, including 3,000-odd policemen, have been injured in the continuing pattern of protests and security crackdown in Kashmir.
