This 50th Golden Anniversary year of ISKCON, popularly known as the Hare Krishna movement, called for special celebrations worldwide on Janmashtami.

At ISKCON Coimbatore, the day long Janmashtami celebrations started as early as 4 am with the Mangala Arati. It gained momentum during the day with dance, drama, kirtan, discourse etc and peaked at midnight with the Kanaka Kamal (Golden Lotuses) abishekam for the deity of Bala Krishna ,commemorating with the Golden Jubilee Anniversary of its incorporation in 1966 by its Founder Acharya, his Divine Grace A.C. Bhakti Vedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada in NewYork.


About 50,000 devotees visited ISKCON Coimbatore today to celebrate Janmashtami and to seek darshan of the Lord.

Thousands of copies of Bhagavad Gita and other spiritual books were distributed and about 50,000 - plates of vegetarian prasadam were lovingly served. Visitors eagerly enquired about the upcoming beautiful temple for Sri Sri Radha and Krishna and offered generous contributions towards its construction.

We have started a project of building a Radha Krishna sanctorum, which will surely be a visual retreat and a peaceful ambience to the visitors of ISKCON. The temple will have a scientific description of lord Krishna's birth and his journey, aimed at educating the youth regarding the Bhagavad Gita, with scientific representations'
Vishesha Eshwari, a house wife stated that 'I've been coming to ISKCON since 15 years and it's a place for peace & happiness. The Krishna Jayanthi celebration is one of it's kind here as all people participate enthusiastically and wholesomely'.
Nishant from SNGC College stated that 'This is my first experience at Iskcon for Krishna Jayanthi Celebrations and its feel good'.
ISKCON Coimbatore is gearing up to offer a magnificent temple of Sri Sri Radha and Krishna to the people of Kovai. The upcoming temple would serve as a spiritual centre for life education and help people cultivate values to check the imbalances of life and society.
