Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology's SAE India Club and Imperial Society of Innovative Engineers (ISIE) jointly flagged off the 'INDIAN KARTING 2016' (IKR) today at their College campus.

The 4-day event is one of its kind in South India. IKR is the Student Go-Kart Design and Manufacturing competitions teams of university undergraduate and graduate students to conceive, design, fabricate, develop the Hybrid Vehicle.

The event is devised to encourage the millions of Indian youths to make drive their dreams.
S. Annadurai, Principal of Sri Krishna Engineering College along with S. Ramesh, Principal, Sri Krishna College of Technology and Vinod Gupta, President of ISIE jointly inaugurated the event.
Mr. Ramesh, Principal SKCT in his inaugural address, expressed his gratitude to ISIE for choosing Krishna College as the venue for this event. He advised the students the students to build the kart models and solutions on current day challenges faced by the automobile industry regarding safety aspects, fuel economy, driverless cars and much more.
S.Annadurai, Principal of Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology in his address detailed on the history of 'Go Kart' and the significance it has gained over the years. He also thanked ISIE for motivatIng the students and also providing them an opportunity to explore ideas.
The panel of judges from DRDO, ARAI, Mahindra Conveyor, Hero Motocorp, L&T, Honda, Al Mulla Group, TVS and IIT Madras will be evaluating the karts created by the participants will be tested for brakes, skid pad , auto cross and finally after the endurance test, the winners will be declared.

Vinod Gupta, President of ISIE while speaking to SimpliCity stated that 'This is the first event which has been licensed by the Ministry of Sports. He said that ISIE is the pioneer in promoting green energy and supporting hybrid and solar energy. 'It was purely a startup and now I own two motor companies' he revealed.
He emphasised that students to learn from failures and boldly march forward with a positive attitude. Hence he insisted the students to take this event as a stepping stone to tune their careers, as it involves team effort, innovation, and applying the knowledge.

A team Fire Fumes lead by Maeru from Lovely professional University from Jalandhar quoted that 'I'm is very excited and it's my long-term passion that drove me here to participate. Our team comprising of 12 members had been working tirelessly for the past 4 months in building the kart and we hope to win this contest'.

Hemanth from Sai Ram Engg College, Bangalore has participated in the event to gain more knowledge about building vehicles. They are planning to establish thier own start up with the experience they gain in this event.The kart was.fully build by them without the help.of any mechanic. Toatlly 25 members in the team.

Shishir from SDM University, Dharwad, Karnataka shared that 'It was a great experience to build Karts and we have learnt a lot through the process'.

On Sunday, the panel of judges will evaluate the Karts and will announce the winning team. Last year (2014-15) the team used 125 cc Engine as per their choice, but this year all teams are using same engine of Briggs & Stratton 127 CC to maintain Equality in Race. IKR 2014-2015 held at Asia’s fastest racing track “Kari Motor Speed Way, Coimbatore”, 44 hybrid cars fabricated by engineering students participated in this event.
