Deputy Commissioner (traffic) S. Saravanan urges motorist to check on emission levels


In the recent days, the City traffic police have been initiating various steps to ease traffic and educate the public on the traffic mandates that needs to be strictly followed.

 

The Deputy Commissioner (Traffic) S.Saravanan reported on the recent emission-drive conducted in the city, on 24th and 25th August, 2016.

Around, 423 vehicles (including two wheelers and four wheelers) which were found without a valid emission certificate was fined, a consolidated fine of Rs. 42,300 were levied in the two-day drive, he stated.

The Deputy Commissioner (traffic) has advised the vehicle owners to check their emission levels periodically through certified emission testing centres and co-operate with the police to control the emissions, which pose a serious environmental threat. 

'We are planning to continue the drive as a continued process to curb excessive emissions from vehicles', he said.
