The Tamilnadu Hairdressers Union, Coimbatore division today petitioned at the Collectorate to allot free land, under the schemes announced by Tamilnadu Adi Dravidar Housing & Development Corporation.
'Around, 3500 families belonging to our community (Hindu Navithar/Hindu Maruthuvar) have been residing at rental homes and shops at various parts in the city. With our meagre income pattern, it is very difficult to pay rents and sustain our livelihood. Hence, we request the Government to allot us with lands, under the schemes announced by the Tamilnadu Government for the benefit of underprivileged castes.
The members of the Union representing South, North and CBE divisional regions submitted the plea in the form of a petition to the District Collector.
