All parties join hands to curb construction of dam across Siruvani at Attapadi

As proposed by G. Ramakrishnan, President of Thandhai Periyar Dravida Kalagam an all-party meet was organised today condemning the intent of the Kerala Government to build a dam across Siruvani river at Attapadi, Agali.

Activists from Students associations, Political outfits, Farmers Union, Social-welfare organisations participated in the meet. The protestors outraged that the approvals issued by the Central Government's Forest & Environmental department to go ahead with the construction is against the interest and well being of the state of Tamilnadu,.

The protestors decided to escalate their protests at the dam construction site in Agali. An hour ago, hundreds of protestors were on their way to Agali in 4-5 tempo traveller's and jeeps.

The police stopped them at the Mangarai Check Post and arrested the protestors.
