'Bahubali Vinayakar' garners the attention of the devotees this Chaturthi


Vinayakar Chaturthi Celebrations are at full-swing in the City, People are rejoicing the day by visiting temples and by offering poojas at home by offering home-made modaks for Lord Ganesha.



Religious-based political outfits like Siva Sena, Bharath Sena, Hanuman Sena, Hindu Parishad were also seen busy in decorating the idols at places allotted for public idol installation. Around 1000 idols are installed at public places, as approved by the Coimbatore City Police. Every installation centre has been provided with adequate security by the Police. 



Customised idols are mostly in demand and this year 'Vandi Maadu Vinayagar, Bahubali Vinayagar, Srirangam and Lakshmi Kubera Vinayagar' attracted the public at Rathinapuri, Ram Nagar and Ramanathapuram. 



The city’s fame Eachanari temple was thronged by the devotees as the deity was decorated in Golden suit and special poojas were performed at the temple. 



Asia’s largest Vinayakar idol at Puliakulam temple was decorated using 4 tons of flowers for the special day. The idol decoration using 1000 and 500 rupees at Rathinapuri garnered the attention of the devotees widely.

The procession would commence on 7th September, totally 10 immersion sites have been identified in the District, out of which 4 sites has been identified within the city for immersion. However, various NGO's, Environmentalists and Farmers associations have been alleging against the practice of dissolving the idols in Rivers, Ponds, Water bodies and Wells as they lead to grave water contamination. 









Hence, presently paper powders, vegetable flours, lime stone and other eco-friendly raw materials are being used for creating the idols. The Pollution Control Board of Tamil Nadu has strictly banned the usage and immersion of idols that are created against the prescribed protocols.
