The Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis today organized a event ‘Nation Builder Award 2016’ at the Sidhapudur Corporation school. The event was organised to honour teachers for their tireless dedication and commendable work.
Mr.Prakash Angappan, District Director, Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis, was the guest of honour for the event and keynote address was delivered by Prof. Alagarsamy, HOD-Dept of Social Science, Sri Krishna College of Arts and Science.

In his keynote speech, Prof Alagarsamy emphasised to the students that ‘shaping one’s character is more important than scoring high marks’. He advised the students to focus on self-development and self-motivation and earnestly work towards achieving their goals. A good friends circle, engagement in social work, responsibility towards the society will pave way in transforming students to leaders. Students should always remember their teachers, as the role played by them in grooming them is indispensable, he asserted.

Prakash Angappan during his address, lamented on the role played by the teachers in students life. He revealed that the Sidhapudur Corporation School was the first school to score 100 percent result before 15 years, hence the students should be proud to pursue their education from this school.

Six teachers were honoured with ‘Nation Builder award 2016’ for their tireless dedication. S.Chidambanathan Pillai of Govt High School Kanuvai, Anuradha Mani of Panchayat Union School, Sulur, Poonkodi, Middle school Singanallur, J.Satish Kumar Headmaster SRP Ammani Ammal school, S.Karthikeyan, Corporation School Sidhapudur, S. Umamaheshwari, Headmistress, Rathinapuri Corporation School were the recipients.

One of the award winner Chidambanathan Pillai, Chemistry teacher from Govt School Kanuvai while speaking to SimpliCity shared that he feels very much elated to receive this award, as it's the first time he has received such a honour. He extended his gratitude to the Rotary club of Coimbatore Metropolis for their continued support in the developmental activities at various schools. ‘I’ve always been motivating my students in a very friendly way and thats the reason behind their 100% results in Chemistry for the past 20 years’ he said.

The event was graced by Rotary club President Jayakumar Ramdass, Manivannan, Asst governor, Mr.Godwin GGR, Mrs.Vasanthy, Secretary, Suresh RYLA trainer and Tarun Sha, President Elect, Students and faculty members of Sidhapudur Corporation School.
