Since, the release of 15 TMC of water from Cauvery by Karnataka Government, farmers, political outfits and the people of Karnataka have been condemning the act of dispersing water to Tamil Nadu. The Tamil Nadu transport corporation buses were vandalised at the TN-Karnataka border, four days ago, leading to termination of bus service between TN - Karnataka. The public and the traders have been adversely affected by this agitation in Karnataka.
Hence, the people have opted trains to travel to various parts of Karnataka, especially Bangalore. The railway station all over Tamil Nadu is unbelievably crowded with people. With the protest getting stronger in the districts of Mandya, Mysore and Bangalore, the people of TN have requested the Government to add new trains, until the agitation is eased off. Post the long weekend, Coimbatore railway station was thronged with people to travel to Bangalore.
Sukumar, a passenger from Coimbatore railway station stated that ‘additional trains should be introduced for a brief time at least, otherwise travellers are left with no choice other than flights. And all cannot afford to travel in flights’.
