Dalits stage sit-in-protest at Collectorate to seek justice


The recent agitation, on 6th September, during Vinayakar Chaturthi celebrations at Periya Thadagam, which lead to assaulting of the Dalits by some upper caste people has further got enraged. On 8th, September, he Thudiyalur police arrested 17 people allegedly the offenders of the case. 

Yesterday, one of the victim Lakshmi was attacked brutally by the offenders, despite the police protection.  This shocking incident has infuriated the victims, who along with the members of 'Samathuva Kalagam' party marched towards the Collectorate and staged a sit-in-protest seeking justice for their community people and alleging the Police for lack of protection. 





The protestors forcefully tried to enter the Collector office, hence the police arrested them and cleared the protest. The victims raised slogans against the Police and the social injustice inflicted on their community people and the scuffle between them and the police created a tense situation in the Collectorate for a brief time.
