Female Elephant died during herd fight at Madukkarai range


A 20-year-old female elephant died in an encounter with a male elephant at Molampalayam near Vadiavelampalayam area, under the Madukkarai wildlife range.

The Forest Department officials inspected the spot. However, they were unable to carry out post-mortem, as it was surrounded by a herd of wild elephants. The veterinarian team has planned to initiate the post-mortem by today morning.

Incidents reporting death of pachyderms, has become a perennial problem, these days. However, such natural deaths are ineluctable.
