Marriage scam: one more complaint

The police have received one more complaint against P. Shruti, and her parents for allegedly cheating a software professional from Hyderabad.

He claimed that she got Rs. 50 lakh among other valuables from him but did not marrying him.

The girl reportedly identified prospective grooms on matrimonial portals, and cheated them with the help of her parents.

On February 27, a case was registered against Shruti, and her parents Prasanna Venkatesan and Chitra based on the complaint preferred by Santhosh Kumar, from Erode. He said that they had taken Rs. 43 lakh from him.

In his complaint on Tuesday, E. Arul Kumar Gururaja (28) of Chidambaram who works as a software professional in Hyderabad, said that the girl contacted him in June 2015 and evinced interest in marrying him.

They met at Puducherry, where Arul reportedly gave her jewellery worth Rs. 2.85 lakh, and a mobile phone for Rs. 37,000.

He claimed that later he gave her Rs. 50 lakh as she claimed that she was a serial actress and wanted money for producing serials.

Later she claimed that she was diagnosed with brain tumour and wanted money for treatment.

He told the police that he came to know that he was cheated on seeing news about a case against her.
