Condition of Hindu Munnani member critical post suicide bid

Ananda Kumar, a Hindu Munnani party member yesterday attempted suicide at his residence by trying to immolate himself. Ananda was rushed to Government Hospital (GH) and his condition is critical.

It is reported that Ananda took this extreme step out of fear of being arrested in connection with the communal riots that took place in our city, post murder of Hindu Munnani functionary Sasikumar.

Kadeshwara Subramaniam, Hindu Munnani head today visited Ananda Kumar at the GH and also met his (Ananda’s) family and consoled them. In an interaction with the media, Kadeshwara went on record stating that Anand Kumar took this extreme step as he feared being arrested by the police.

He also told that so far the city police has arrested 400 members in connection with the recent riots in the city. The police should refrain from arresting innocent people in this regard, he insisted.

Kadeshwara also claimed that a few people in Coimbatore, Tirupur and Dindigul are being questioned for suspicious links with the ISIS. Commenting on this, he urged to form a special team to nab the culprits. He also cited that Maoist activity is on a rise in Tamil Nadu.

'CB CID has assured that they will arrest the culprits soon. But they are misleading and diverting the investigation by stating personal enemity as the reason for Sasikumar’s murder', Kadeshwara said.

He added that the police must take a closer look at the attacks that are being staged on Hindu outfits in our city and those found guilty in this regard must be arrested.
