3 Terrorists Killed After Attack On Army Camp In Langate In Jammu And Kashmir

Langate: Three terrorists were reportedly killed on Thursday morning after they attacked an army camp in Langate in north Kashmir. Officers also said three infiltration attempts have been stopped along the Line of Control since last night.

The terrorists opened fire on an army camp around 5 am, said an officer, adding that soldiers retaliated instantly.

After firing at two posts of the 30 Rashtriya Rifles camp, the terrorists ran away. Heavy firing continued for around half an hour, during which three of the terrorists were reportedly cornered and shot dead.

"The troops were alert and the attack was foiled," said the army officer. Villages near the camp are being searched.

The infiltration attempts, the army said, were assisted by Pakistani posts.

In the past five days, there have been 25 ceasefire violations by Pakistan.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was informed in a report by National Security Adviser Ajit Doval that nearly 100 terrorists are being prepped to cross the Line of Control and launch attacks in India.

Top ministers were also told that after the army's surgical strikes last week targeting seven terrorist launch pads or staging areas in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, the Pakistani infantry is protecting launch pads near the Line of Control.

India's strikes were seen as retaliation for the deadly terror attack on an army camp in Kashmir's Uri last month in which 19 soldiers were killed.

Repeated firing by Pakistan at the border reinforces concerns about attempts to send across a large number of terrorists to launch fresh attacks and to re-instigate violence in the Kashmir Valley, which saw nearly 90 people killed and at least 10,000 injured after the killing of terrorist Burhan Wani.
