Government law college website hacked

Mumbai: The official website of Government Law College (GLC) Churchgate, seems to be the latest victim of hackers claiming to be from Pakistan, after India's surgical strike last week. The college's website was hacked twice on Monday evening. Several students who logged on to the site on through the GLC app on their phones were directed to the homepage which was hacked by group calling itself 'PakCyberPyrates'. A message reading 'National Securities Depository Limited...OOPSS.. To all Indians out there..surgical strike...lolx..hahahahaha!!!' appeared on the homepage. The cyber attack, interestingly, came two days after the institute held a policy debate on terrorism.

A student from the premier institute's students' council informed the principal Ajay Nathani at around 6 pm on Monday. The college gave a written complaint to the Marine Lines Police Station late in the evening and tried to restore the page too. "Once the students informed us, we restored the page in the evening. But within minutes the miscreants manage to hack it again. We are trying to fix the problem. We have our internal data secured. But they have defaced the site. The police will lodge a complaint with the cyber cell," said Nathani. He said that two days ago the college had organised a policy debate on terrorism and he doesn't know if the matter is related.

The principal said that the college does not have any personal data on the site. "We just put up notices, merit lists nd general information, which we have managed to secure. But there are no personal data on the site. We will fix it and ensure that it is not breached in future," said the principal. A student said that the site is accessible on the GLC app that they have installed on their phones and are worried about their data on phones too. He said that the student usually look up for notices, and information on various events on the website.
