Two killed, two injured in accident

A woman and a child were killed while two others were injured when a car and a mini goods carrier collided head-on on Udumalpet Road at Andiyur, near Gomangalam, during the late hours of Thursday.

The police said that N.G. Manickam (53), of GVG Nagar in Palani, and his wife M. Saraswathi (50) went to their daughter’s house at PN Pudur in Coimbatore and were returning to Palani in the evening with their grandson Nakshan (2).

According to the police, Manickam drove the car to the right side of the road and collided against the mini goods carrier driven by P. Dhandapani (37).

Saraswathi and Nakshan died on the spot.

Manickam and Dhandapani were admitted in the Udumalpet Government Hospital, the police said.
