China Airlines announces changes to Manila flights

Taipei - China Airlines (CAL) has urged passengers flying to and from the Philippines to check changes to flight schedules caused by Typhoon Sarika, which will pass Luzon in the Philippines and enter the South China Sea Sunday.

CAL said Saturday that Taipei-Manila and Manila-Taipei flights C1701 and C1702 scheduled for Sunday will be canceled.

Kaohsiung - Manila and Manila-Kaohsiung flights C1711 and C1712 Sunday will be delayed until 7:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. Monday, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said that with the approach of Typhoon Sarika, western parts of Taiwan will experience high temperatures in the daytime Sunday, with the area from Taoyuan to Chiayi likely to see temperatures above 34 degrees Celsius.

Starting Sunday night, southern and eastern parts of Taiwan will be prone to partial heavy rainfall caused by the outer circulation of the typhoon.

Tropical Storm Haima is currently about 2,700 kilometers from Taiwan and is expected to pass through the Bashi Channel.
