'Manivannan Award Ceremony' was hosted by 'Naaivaal' a film appreciation organisation, yesterday here. Director Samudirakani and Novelist Tamilnathi, were honoured at the event. Renowned Writer Pamaran and Actor Namo Narayanan were also present at the award ceremony.
'Appa' the Tamil independent drama film written, produced and directed by Samuthirakani hit cinema theaters this July. Appa film is the spiritual sequel to Saattai (2012) has already begun to receive awards. At this award ceremony, Appa was adjourned the Best Picture. In his acceptance speech Samuthirakani told his audiences that his films depict real life incidents.

“Caste of people continues to be a trouble in our region. Just five minutes into a conversation, we are asked what caste we belong to. This must change only then there will be change in our society at large.” Samuthirakani said. He added that this award is that Appa film has received.
Also at the award function, novelist TamilNathi was awarded 'Best Novel' award for 'Parthiniyam' novel. “I am proud that my novel is selected for the award. I worked for 14 months on this novel. It took another 8 months for proofreading. The novel received a lot of criticism from all quarters. But I will not allow this criticism to have any impact on my work and I will continue to write. Writing is my life.” Tamilnathi said. Nearly one hundred people attended this award ceremony.
