3 runaway girls rescued

Three teen-aged girls, found loitering near the Coimbatore railway station, were rescued by police early in the morning today.

The police, during their morning rounds, noticed the girls standing on the road and took them to the nearest police station. Interrogation revealed that the three, identified as Vijayalakshmi, Subashini, and Jayashree were 16 years old and belonged to Vizhuppuram. They were pursuing their studies while staying in an Ashram there.

Since they were not interested in studies, the trio escaped from there and came to Coimbatore by train in search of jobs.

The girls have been kept in a shelter home. Information was given to their parents, who are on their way to the city.
