Fraud victim commits suicide

A 35-year-old woman, who went into a depression after she was conned of Rs.10 lakhs by a city-based marketing company, committed suicide yesterday.

Thilakavathi, wife of Thirunavukkarasu, who ran a bakery in Somanur, had invested Rs.10 lakhs in Fine Future Marketing, which had closed down a few years ago when its fraudulent transactions were brought to the light.

When she came to know that her money was gone, Thilakavathi went into a depression and consumed poisonous cow-dung powder early in the morning today. A relative, who had gone to the house, found the woman lying unconscious and immediately rushed her to the Government hospital, but she was declared brought dead.

Further investigations are on.

More than 23,000 investors who had invested nearly Rs.170 crores had registered complaints against Fine Future Marketing, which had closed down three years ago.
