New drug to fight dengue fever launched

The Karnataka Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals Limited (KAPL), a Government of India enterprise, today launched a drug to fight the low platelet count in Dengue fever.

The drug, POP–e, contains papaya leaf extracts (Carica papaya leaf extract) in the form of tablet and available at strength of 1100 mg. The drug will be available to the public, on doctor's prescription, from tomorrow onwards in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

The product is part of the company’s mission to provide quality drug at economical prices. Dr. Poyyamozhi, a senior faculty of RVS Medical College, launched the product in the presence of the company senior executives, Seshagiri Rao and Dr. Nagashayana.
