Yesterday the city received a heavy downpour the whole night. Water stagnation on the roads has resulted in disruption of traffic, at most of the prime places. The traffic has been moving at snail pace at the Krishnaswamy Road, near Brookefields Mall.

The underpass which is a little away from the Kikani Vidhya Mandir is choked with water up to a few feet, thus, making it inconvenient for the motorists to use this stretch. This automatically prompts the vehicles to use the Krishnaswamy Road causing a massive traffic jam on this road. Traffic blocks has been reported at Gandhipuram flyover and Avarampalayam junction.

Considering the water logging on this stretch and the traffic jam caused by the vehicles, further rains could worsen the situation. The City Corporation continue to work towards draining out water from the water logged zones using giant suction motors, however a rain alert has been issued by the Meterological department throughout Tamil Nadu for the upcoming weeks.
