All India Youth Federation (AIYF) today staged a sit-in protest against the process of making aadhar cards mandatory. After the announcement by the government declaring aadhar card for procuring essentials from ration shops, it has become very difficult for the needy people who are yet to receive aadhar cards, said the protestors.
Despite several camps in place to issue aadhar cards to individuals, on an average per day only 30 cards are issued. This makes it rather difficult for the public to avail government subsidies, they alleged.

In this regard, AIYF members staged a sit-in protest before the Coimbatore East Zone officer and they demanded that only after 90% of the public is issued aadhar cards, the Government subsidies must be linked to them. Until such time the public should not be denied subsidies and essential goods at ration shops.
Only after the concerned officials intervened and assured them to take necessary action, they withdrew their protest.
