As the year 2017 is getting closer, the ovens in the city are all set to bake some delectable Christmas and New Year cakes. City's star ranked hotels have already begun the process of cake mixing for the upcoming new year's eve. 'The Zone' by The Park, Coimbatore today hosted their annual cake mixing ceremony.
As special invitees, members of the Coimbatore Chapter of FICCI FLO enthusiastically performed in the cake mixing ritual wearing gloves and aprons. Local, in-house guests and hotel associates also participated in the gala cake mixing ceremony.
The first step in cake mixing saw rum-soaked dry fruits and nuts going in with raisins, dry cherries, black currant, figs, dates, Almonds, orange and ginger peel mixed in wine, rum and brandy. Some of the aromatic Indian spices used were cinnamon powder, Clove Powder, Cardamom powder, nutmeg and dry ginger powder.

Pairs of hands wearing gloves moved in pace for mixing the ingredients till the dry fruits were fully soaked. Nearly 200 kilos of ingredients were mixed evenly. This mixture will be covered and sealed in an airtight container for a month tills it ferments to perfection. By the mid of December, the chefs start the baking process.

“We look after our guests as a part of one large family and it is so heartening to see them participate. We normally distribute the cake to all our hotel guests on Christmas day. We also undertake orders for the cake” said Paul Mahiban, General Manager.
