Terrorist killed in encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian

Srinagar: One terrorist was killed and a soldier was injured today in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district. The encounter took place shortly after security forces launched a search operation in a village in the district, police said.

Police assisted by security forces cordoned off Dobjan village, 60 kms from Srinagar, after getting information about the presence of four terrorists, a police official said.

He said that the terrorists who were hiding in a hose started firing as the security forces moved in. The terrorists kept firing in an attempt to break the cordon, the police official said.

The security forces retaliated the fire. One terrorist was killed, and a soldier was injured, the official said.

A fierce gun-battle is still on, he said.
