Cultural Competition for Rural School Children hosted by Rotary Club of Coimbatore

The Rural Youth Development Programme of the Rotary club of Coimbatore in association with District Sports  and Games Welfare Association organised a 2-day 'Cultural Competition for Rural School Children'. The programme aims at motivating and improving the extra-curricular activities of the school children and to create a platform for them to showcase their talents.

Varied genre of activities and sports including Yoga, sports, village/ bharathanatiyam dance, carnatic music, english/tamil elocution, mimicry, Thirukural reciting, mono acting, fancy dress, dictation and pronunciation competition and kavadi & karagam performance were hosted at the 2-day event. Close to 392 students from 32 government and government-aided schools participated in the events.

Rtn. Pandian while addressing the gathering stressed that 'students should pay equal importance in developing their extra-curricular activities. Hence, parents should motivate their children to pursue sports and games as per their interests rather than forcing them to only concentrate on their subjects. It's great to see so many parents who've come from various parts of the city to witness their child perform'. He awarded the students with certificates and prizes as a token of appreciation and motivation.

Asst District Governor Rtn.K.R. Pandian was the Chief of Guest for the event. President Rtn. Gurpreet Singh, Secretary Ramkumar, Director Youth Programme, Rtn. Rajesh Bohra, Project Chairman Rtn. Prabakar and President of District Sports and Games Welfare Association, S. Ramachandran and other office bearers were present during the event.
