Petition day at the Coimbatore District Collectorate


Petition filed by woman to have husband released from jail:

A woman with a two-month-old baby petitioned the District Collector to take action against the concerned police officials for booking her husband in false case of forgery. In her petition, the lady stated that two women namely Bindu and Mangalarasi claimed to be police officials visited her home on the 14th of last month. The women made enquires about her husband and the two mercilessly trashed this woman. The lady also stated that she is currently residing in her sister’s home and she was forced to furnish her address which she subsequently did.



The lady who filed the petition also claims that two women got her to sign various papers and they stayed with her in her home for six days at a stretch and had her under house arrest. The duo also threatened this lady with dire consequences if she disclosed to anyone that the two stayed with her in her home.

In her petition, the lady also stated that her husband has been arrested under the Goondas Act. She is unaware why she was hit by the two women who stayed with her. The lady also claims that the two could have been sent by the Karumathampatti police. She also requested the District Collector to take strict action against the two women.

Suicide attempt foiled at District Collectorate by women police officials










Widow Kannammal, a resident of Madurakkai toady attempted suicide at the Collectorate by lying on the road to allow vehicles entering this complex go over her. She attempted suicide in a bid to ensure that she gets her share of her deceased husband’s compensation. Kannammal was the second wife of Kuni Mohamed. A few years ago, he passed away and a said compensation amount was sanctioned for the deceased.



Kannammal claims that her husband’s first wife is in possession of the entire compensation amount and she did not gain any monetary benefit out of it. Despite her repeated efforts to get her share of the compensation amount, till date she has not been given anything. Thus, she attempted suicide before the Collectorate and this bid was foiled by alert women police officers on duty.
