TSSC and PSG sign MoU to set up skill centre (COE) in Coimbatore

Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) and city-based PSG College of Technology signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up a skill centre (COE) for strengthening skill development in the telecom sector in Coimbatore. This skill centre will also help in promoting and supporting Digital India and Make in India campaigns of the Government of India. The MoU was signed by Lt Gen (Retd) Dr SP Kochhar, CEO, Telecom Sector Skill Council and Dr. R Rudramoorthy, Principal, PSG College of Technology at this college today.

After signing this MoU, Dr. Rudramoorthy said “We are proud to sign this historic MoU with TSSC to provide skilled professionals in the telecom industry of the country. With newer technology entering the market, the sector has opened up enormous opportunities to all potential candidates.”



He added “To begin with, this training centre will offer two training programmes for a duration of 180-hours. The duration of the training can be extended. About six trainers will be hand-picked by our educational institution and they will in turn aspiring candidates.” Dr. Rudramoorthy said.



“Across our country TSSE has set up about 21,100 such training centres and 600 centres are functional in various colleges in our country. In Coimbatore alone 30 centres are currently operational. The aim of these training centres is to provide the students training and ensure that they are placed in the telecom sector. We wish to make this centre at PSG as a hub that offers training in Coimbatore.” Lt Gen (Retd) Dr SP Kochhar, CEO, TSSC said.
