Tata Sons replaces Cyrus Mistry as TCS chief

Mumbai: Tata Sons, the largest shareholder in Tata Consultancy Services, on Thursday morning informed the bourses that Cyrus Mistry has been replaced as the chairman of the software major. Ishaat Hussain, a director on the board of TCS, has taken over as the new chairman till a new candidate is appointed in his place.

Tata Sons has also issued a notice convening an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders of TCS to consider a resolution to remove Cyrus Mistry as a director of the company, the notice to the exchanges said.

The move by Tata Sons, with Ratan Tata as its interim chairman, is the latest salvo in the battle for leadership of the holding company for the Tata Group.

On October 24, Tata Sons had sacked Mistry as the chairman of its company, will meet to consider its financial results.
