A drainage manhole at the Coimbatore Government Hospital near the mother and child welfare block has been seen open, since a couple of days. The open man hole pose a serious threat of spreading infectious diseases to the patients around the premise. The smell emanating from the man hole is unbearable and with the children's ward adjacent to the spot, parents and relatives of ill-children are facing severe inconvenience to stand in long queue's for consultation.
The concerned officials needs to address the issue the open drainage hole with immediate effect has been the request of the patients at the Government hospital, who also feel that they could get additional infections to their sickness. Cockroaches and contagious flies are also seen around the manhole. It's heart rending to watch the pathetic faces of the people who had to adjust to the situation by standing in long queue's covering their nostrils, yet left with no other option.
