Every year November 14th is observed as the 'World Diabetes Day'. The primary focus is to create global awareness on diabetes mellitus and the importance of taking coordinated and collective actions to confront diabetes as it has turned out to be a critical global health issue.

In the city of Coimbatore, rallies and awareness campaigns have already begun with two more days left for the diabetes day. Medical fraternities of various multi-speciality hospitals have organised special camps to educate the public on the latest screening methodologies, conservative ways to combat diabetes, severity of complications if unattended and continued treatment.

A rally was organised by the Coimbatore Diabetic Foundation today at Sivanandha colony with the help of CMS School students, who carried placards with slogans of need for awareness for diabetes mellitus. Rathinapuri Inspector, Sivakumar, flagged off the rally with hundreds of students marching through Tatabad, Powerhouse and returned back their place of start.

Yet another awareness event was organised by KMCH Multi-speciality hospital at Racecourse. District Collector TN Hariharan flagged off the Diabetic Camp on World Diabetes Day.
