Papanasam Sivan was a prominent composer of Carnatic music and a singer and also the foremost film score composer in Kannada cinema as well as Tamil cinema during 1930s and 1940s. A famous composer, Sivan was also known as Tamil Thyagaraja. Using Classical South Indian as a base, Sivan created numerous hits popularised by M.K. Thygaraja Bhagavathar and M.S. Subbulakshmi.

To commemorate his 126th birthday, a grand event was organised by Brookefields Mall, today. This is the 3rd consecutive year Brookefields have been paying tribute to the great carnatic legend by celebrating 'Brookefield Papanasam Sivan Day'. More than 45 vocal and dance artists from the city rendered famous songs delivered by Papanasam Sivan.

The audience experienced a visual and vocal treat starting from 9 am this morning through continous classical concerts and dance performances.

The soulful performance rendered by Papanasam Ashok Ramani, Grandson of Papanasam Sivan and Shivanugraha Musical Group, Kalaimamani Dr. Rukmani Ramani, who is the daughter of Papanasam Sivan garnered the attention of the audience.

They also evaluated the performances of the other artists and shared their feedback with them. It was a great experience for the artists, as well, as they had an opportunity to interact with Papanasam Ashok Ramani and Kalaimamani Dr. Rukmani Ramani.
