With some parts of the city waking up to a short spell of rain on Sunday morning, meteorologists say that weather conditions would continue to be the same on Monday. But by November 15, the rain is expected to shift to neighbouring states. It is likely to be followed by a dry spell for the rest of the month, as there is no development of a significant weather system over the Bay of Bengal.
According to the regional meteorological centre, Chennai had recorded 3.2mm rainfall on Sunday. Southern districts including Kanyakumari and Nagapattinam recorded good showers. For the next 24 hours, rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over coastal Tamil Nadu and at a few places in interior Tamil Nadu.
In Chennai, the sky is likely to be generally cloudy. "There will be scattered rainfall in some parts of the city. If there is the development of convective clouds, there may be showers for 30 minutes to an hour," said Mahesh Palawat, chief meteorologist, Skymet.
