Dr. C. Palanivelu, Chairman, GEM Hospital & Research Centre says “An increasing number of men and women are suffering from pancreatitis. Inflammation of the pancreas is pancreatitis. About a decade ago, less number of people suffered from this disease. However, currently, the number of patients who are diagnosed with pancreatitis has increased tenfold. Early diagnosis and proper treatment can save the patient. One such example of a patient who was given proper treatment and was cured of pancreatitis is Praveen.”
This graduate was selected for an opportunity in TCS. When he was waiting to join his job he was diagnosed of acute pancreatitis. His condition became critical and his parents rushed him to a private hospital for treatment. Praveen was referred to GEM Hospital & Research Centre for treatment.
On 26 October, 22-year-old Praveen was rushed to the emergency care of GEM Hospital & Research Centre. While he was transferred to this hospital he was on ventilator and it is reported that Praveen suffered a cardiac arrest. Under the treatment of Dr. Diwakar and the team of experts at this hospital Praveen is now cured of pancreatitis. The patient was discharged from this hospital on the 12th day of admission.
Pancreatitis affects men and women too are not spared of this disease. Doctors warn that the signs of this disease must not be ignored as when left untreated pancreatitis can damage other organs in the body too. In India, it is reported that a majority of men acquire pancreatitis due to alcohol consumption and trouble in gallbladder can result in women suffering from pancreatitis, also.
