Kanakavalli pays tribute to carnatic legend MS Subbulakshmi on her centenary birthday.

Commemorating the 100th birth anniversary of Carnatic singer Bharat Ratna Dr. M.S. Subbulakshmi, 'Ode to the Nightingale' a tribute to the carnatic legend MS Subbulakshmi was hosted at the Kanakavalli, a customised place for handwoven Kanjivaram silk sarees, this evening. 



Lakshmi Viswanathan, Author of 'Kunjamma -Ode to a Nightingale' and Shubashri Ramachandran, Carnatic Vocalist was the guest of honour for the evening. 



Through her eloquent expressions, Lakshmi Viswanathan, the renowned Bharatanatyam dancer and choreographer, a trained singer and a writer, enthralled the audience. Every bit of her speech showed her love and respect for the great legend and the contributions of MS Subbulakshmi to carnatic music. 



Shubashri Ramachandran captivated the audience through her ecstatic carnatic songs. The guests for the evening undoubtedly had a thorough and beatific time, relishing the performances and carrying ever-lasting memories of the musical icon.
