Depression consumes another life; Actor Prashanth leaves suicide note


Actor Sai Prashanth, who allegedly committed suicide at his residence in Valasaravakkam on Sunday: has said in a letter that only he was responsible for his death.

In what is considered to be a suicide note, Sai, known for working in serials such as ‘Annamalai’, ‘Selvi’ and ‘Arasi’, and a few Tamil movies, has explained to his wife Sujitha that the reason for “beating her four times” was his possessiveness towards her.

Expressing his love for her several times in the note, Sai has said that she should at least now “leave her anger” after his death. He has also promised that his parents would return 33 sovereigns of her jewellery and Rs. 5 lakh cash.

Asking his wife and daughter not to cry on his demise, Sai has sought their promise that no one in the family would fight any longer. Claiming himself to be the cause of all problem in the family, he has said that now that he has gone there would be no more issues.

Thanking Radaan Media and Sun Network, he has said he would miss “amma Raadhika Sarathkumar”.

The artists of Kollywood state that he has been suffering due to depression and has also been neglecting the condition. His friends in the film field say that he was under tremendous pressure from family over personal and financial issues.

Sai Prashanth has had suicidal tendencies earlier and had even slit his wrist a few a days ago.

With depression becoming a industry-wide issue, the Nadigar sangam has announced that a counselling center would be set up to help actors with such psychological problems.
