Coimbatore City traffic police department in association with Roots Industries India Ltd., today organised a programme at the Brookefields Mall to discuss on the life-threatening consequences caused by unruly driving and people's negligence in observing the traffic rules.
Hundreds of public participated in the awareness programme. Deputy Commissioner (Traffic) Saravanan co-ordinated the event.

Mime shows were staged by the employees of Roots emphasising on the need to observe traffic rules and also threw light on the implications of bad drivers. 'What happens when you disobey a traffic rule? It's just not a penalty, it may also cost the precious of someone else...' the performers orchestrated through their plays the value of a life.

Driving without helmets, using cellphones while driving, disobeying traffic rules, ignoring hand signals, not wearing seat belts and especially drink and drive were the issues dealt in detail by the performers through plays and mime shows.

Speaking on this, Deputy Commissioner (Traffic) Saravanan said that 'Life is a very precious thing. Never lose this precious life because of your negligence and reckless driving. Adhering to traffic rules is the responsibility of every citizen. Responsible driving is something everyone of us should practice and follow in our daily lives'.

Senior Officials from Roots, Assistant Commissioner Magudapathi, Deputy Commissioner (Traffic) Saravanan, Traffic Inspector (west) Sadhasivam, Traffic Inspector (east) Iyyarsamy, Tamil lyricist Kavidasan were the guests present during the awareness programme.
