CCMC continues to organise night clean-up drives to keep the city clean.

In a bid to ensure the city clean, the Coimbatore Corporation has been implementing various means to curb the garbages deposited by the traders at busy junctures. In this context, special night clean-up drives have been directed by the Special Officer, Vijayakarthikeyan.

Ukkadam, Big bazaar, street, Selvapuram market areas were the few places that had a facelift after this cleanup drive a couple of days back.

Today one such drive was conducted at the TK market area at Raja street. Speaking on this, 'Through this drive, we aim at creating awareness among the traders to keep their premise clean and co-operate with the corporation cleaning staff by aggregating the wastes at one common point' said Special Officer Vijayakarthikeyan.

Special Officer interacted with the traders and insisted them to abstain from using plastic bags. He educated them to insist the customers to bring their own cloth or eco-friendly bags for purchase.

During this interaction, the traders affirmed to abide by the no plastic bag movement and also assured to act responsible to keep their premise clean.

The traders at TK Market also put forth their plea to the Commissioner to provide them with additional street lights and drinking water facilities.
