TNSTC employees stage protest demanding full salary be paid

Following the demonetisation of Rs.500 and Rs.1000 currency notes, people from all walks of life in the country are finding it hard to carry out their routine expenditure. Small, medium and large commercial establishments too are having a tough time to make payments as the Government has announced a limit on the transaction amounts.

In the backdrop of all this, it has been reported that the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation Limited (TNSTC) is struggling to pay its employees their monthly salary. It has also been reported that the transport department employees have been provided only Rs.3,000 as an advance.

It was announced that the remaining amount will be credited in their respective banks accounts. However, only half of the promised remaining amount has been deposited in their respective bank accounts. Condemning this act and demanding that they be paid full salary, the transport department employees called for a state wide protest.

In Coimbatore the protests were held at the Tamil Nadu Government Transport Department workshop in Ukkadam. Employees raised slogans demanding that full salary should be paid.
