Leprosy patients from 'Amarjyoti Leprosy Nivaran Sangh' petitioned the District Collector seeking action against a person and a reporter of a daily for spreading rumours about the health centre which has been supporting them with their daily needs.
The petitioners stated that since the last 40 years, about 125 families who are affected by leprosy are staying in Vadavalli after being disowned by their families. “16 years back, a centre named 'Embrace a village community health centre' was constructed near our place in the intend to help us. Since it's inception, the centre is helping us by supplying food materials, medical assistance and education for our children, free of cost. Recently, a person V. Shyam is spreading unwarranted information about the centre to the media and through social network.”

'Due to their false propaganda, all the 125 families have been impacted. Hence, action should be taken against persons involved in spreading rumours about the health centre'.
