Back home in Coimbatore, the public was glued to their television sets to watch the last journey of their leader. The otherwise busy roads were empty. Shops, even the medical stores and the petrol stations remained closed yesterday. Life came to a standstill in our city.

However, post sunset and after the last rites of our former CM were performed, a few commercial establishments opened their doors to the public.
This morning the situation in our city is a shade better. Professionals and office-goers are back to work. Petrol stations are functioning. Stores selling provisions and groceries are open. One of the officials of the Sungam bus depot of Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC), who does not wish to be named stated that today, more than 50% of our buses are back on the roads.

Slowly yet steadily, Coimbatore is bouncing back to life after the death of our former CM.
