With the aim of offering the Government appropriate solutions to deal with demonetisation and switching to a cashless economy, the Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science has joined hands with The Institute of Finance Management, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and The Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chennai to host its UGC sponsored 7th International Conference on Development Policy leveraging investment, infrastructure and intellectual capital for economic development. This two-day international conference will be hosted at the Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science on 15 and 16 December.
Speaking to the media ahead of this conference, Dr. Premavathy Vijayan, Vice-Chancellor, Avanashilingam University for Women said “This conference will have four plenary sessions, panel discussions and technical sessions. Subjects like shaping future citizens - strategic challenges, GST and its impact on economic development, best practises in managing intellectual capital, a comprehensive roadmap of a digital Oman and investment environment and capital market reforms for sustainable economic growth among other sub topics will be discussed at this two day conference. We have received about 76 research papers and we are expecting that about 100 research papers will be presented at this conference. About 200 delegates, including 30 foreign delegates will be participating in this conference.”

The Vice-Chancellor added “We will propose our recommendations to the Government on how to deal with demonetisation and switching to a cashless economy at the end of the two day conference. Currently, our students our undergoing training on how to adopt to a cashless economy. About 3,000 of our students have undergone training and they will in turn train the rural masses.”
