Inspector and head constable suspended for forging documents and selling confiscated liquor bottles

Following the death of the former Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha on December 5, the government declared a three day state mourning. As part of the mourning the TASMAC shops were also ordered not to function. Upon information that liquor is being sold in a TASMAC outlet in Goldwins on the outskirts of the city a team lead by inspector Murali of Peelamedu police station conducted an inspection at the TASMAC shop and found that Murali of Pudukottai who was working in the bar was selling liquor.

The team of police confiscated 1400 bottles of liquor from him. Inspector who registered a case against the accused mentioned in his report that only 192 liquor bottles were confiscated and submitted the report in the court. Coimbatore Police Commissioner, Amalraj received information that 1200 bottles were confiscated during the search and he ordered an inquiry in which it was found the inspector was guilty. The inspector was suspended and also the Head Constable of the intelligence wing at the police station was suspended for not reporting the incident for one week.
