Two POS machines installed at Coimbatore Railway Station to ease ticket booking.

Since the announcement of demonetization, in most of the cities the railway stations have transformed into a chaotic place. Unable to render the appropriate change to the public, the railway staff at the ticket counters are having a real tough time. Public had to wait in long queues at the advance ticket booking counters. Currently, the Railways does not provide POS service for debit and credit card payments at its ticket counters.

In Coimbatore railway Junction, the passengers have been persistently complaining of waiting for long hours and urging the Railways to install POS machines for ease of transactions. Finally, today two POS machines were installed at the Coimbatore Junction apart from the one that exists already for the passengers with daily pass.

The passengers have urged that the railway department should open up new counters to facilitate ease of booking. And, special counters for senior citizens should also be considered. Presently, the station is equipped with 10 counters out of which only three counters are manned, hence the passengers' plea that the remaining seven counters should be opened up for public with immediate effect to avoid unnecessary hassles and chaos.
