Students of Avinashilingam University help villagers to join the Digital India movement


Close to 3500 NSS, NCC and sports department students of Avinashilingam University helped in data collection of the villagers to enable them join the 'Digital India Movement' proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on 1st July, 2016.

The programme includes projects that aim to ensure that government services are available to all citizens electronically and people get benefit of the latest information and communication technology.



Details such as name, age, income, pan card details among other information were collected by the students from the villagers of Therkkuppalayam, Rangammal Colony, Subramaniyamapalayam, Thondamuthur, Vellakinar, Kurudampalayam Panchayat, Vadamadurai, Thoppampatti, Kasthurinayackanpalayam, Kalapanayackanpalayam, Somayampalayam, Nallampalayam II, Thennampalayam, Puthupalayam, Nallampalayam Igandhi Nagar and Kempanoor.

The data on various parameters that has been collected will be sent to the ministry of human resources and development.



This will help the villagers to enjoy the benefits of digital India. Dr. Premavathy Vijayan, Vice- Chancellor of this University and Dr. S. Kausalaya, Registrar guided the students and the teachers in completing the data collection process.
